In June 2026, Litostroj Power signed a new contract with Fortum Sverige AB for the refurbishment and upgrade of turbine unit G3 at Dönje Hydropower Plant in Sweden.
Located on the Ljusnan River, approximately 5 km north of Bollnäs, Dönje HPP is an important asset in Fortum’s hydropower fleet. Unit 3 was originally commissioned in 1966. The planned upgrade will extend the unit’s capabilities and support its continued operation.
The scope of work includes the supply of a new ecological Kaplan runner, a new hydraulic power unit (HPU), and other associated new and refurbished equipment. Litostroj Power will also carry out the site works and commissioning.
The project will begin with a fully homologous model test in Litostroj’s hydraulic laboratory in Blansko, Czech Republic. This testing phase will help validate the turbine design before the equipment is installed at the plant. Completion of the site works is planned for 2029.
Following the upgrade, Dönje G3 will be capable of delivering a maximum turbine output of 32 MW.
Litostroj and Fortum have maintained a continuous working relationship for more than 15 years. This latest contract builds on that cooperation and supports Litostroj Power’s continued development in the demanding Nordic hydropower market.
